The Baby Shower
We had a wonderful time decorating for a shower recently at my house.
The theme was Turtles, Frogs and Fish.
The lovely wreath was made for the expectant mother by a creative guest, her sister-in-law.
The picture was an enlarged snapshot taken at the beach for the guests to sign.
She really liked the clothesline with all the baby things to add to her collection of gifts.
The menu included:
Green Party Punch, Homemade Pimento Cheese sandwiches, fruit salad, Rolo and pretzel turtles, chips, dips and a lovely lemonade.
The cutest thing was the petit fours.
We bought the plain green ones from the bakery, but they got confused when we asked for turtles or frogs on top.
So I bought pastel fondant from Wal mart and made them myself.
Don't they look happy?
First, I rolled little green fondant balls and used a toothpick to make their little smiles. I made their heads kind of "Froggy-shaped".
Next, I rolled small googly eye balls from the yellow.
Then, I added some food color in a plastic bag with a small piece of fondant to make the black.
I just kneaded it in the bag until it was absorbed, rolled the balls, made them flat and put the tiny black centers for those eyes.
It all attached with a swipe of water on a tiny paintbrush to make them stick.
Then I sat the frogs in tiny circles of light blue rolled fondant and let them dry overnight.
I used cookie frosting to attach them just before party-time.
Each one looked different and I think they were precious.
